Piyumi Samaraweera (CREA)

 

Piyumi Samaraweera co-authored the study we are presenting in this webinar ‘Challenging global power asymmetries: insights from feminist organising for decolonising initiatives’. She is the Programmes Director for Feminist Leadership and Movements at CREA World. CREA is a feminist international human rights organisation based in the Global South and led by women from the Global South. She joined CREA from Womankind Worldwide, where she was a Programme Manager for Innovation and Partnerships, working to build and maintain strong partnerships with feminist organisations in Africa and Asia. She is also co-chair of GADN (the Gender and Development Network GADN). 

 

Disha Sughand (Womankind Worldwide)

 

Disha Sughand is co-CEO of Womankind Worldwide, an organisation dedicated to the rights of women and girls and working to support women’s movements, internationally.  She worked with colleagues in Womankind Worldwide to develop their anti-racist pledge in 2020 and has worked since then to support the organisation in putting it into action, driving change both internally and in the way it works with funders and partners. She partnered with The Development Hub in producing ‘Challenging global power asymmetries: insights from feminist organising for decolonising initiatives’ presented in this webinar. She is also co-Chair of GADN (the Gender and Development Network).

 

Alba Murcia (DevHub)

 

Alba Murcia is a Consultant at The Development Hub, working across the research, advocacy and training pillars of our work. She is a core team member on our Skill Share Programme on decolonising development and humanitarian practice and produces our podcast series “The Power Shift: Decolonising Development“.

Alba is particularly interested in the intersection of decolonial feminism and resistance in Latin America with a particular focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights and LGBTQ+ rights.
